For 2009, SolarSwim will be featuring energy efficient pool pumps in addition to our pool heating line of products.

Did you know that after central air conditioning, the pool pump is the second largest consumer of electricity in the household? Changing to an energy efficient single speed, variable speed, or variable flow pump can save up to $1356. per year on energy costs.

Often the consumer can save in excess of the cost of the new pump in the first year of use. And the newer energy efficient pumps use a motor similar to that used in electric cars. These motors are quieter, run cooler, and last far longer than conventional pool pumps.

Coupled with a solar heating system, residential systems can be calibrated to deliver maximum flow when conditions are ideal for heating, while delivering a reduced flow when heat is not available or needed. The energy savings is achieved in the design of the pump and also in the flow rate (amperage draw) in the variable speed and variable flow models.
